Meret's Journey

I'm a psychologist, health and wellness coach, and stress and nervous system coach.

Guided by my own own experience healing from multiple concussions, depression, and PTSD, I explored and discovered a full toolbox of transformative tools to support my mental and physical health. I believe tiny steps forward can be life-changing and can serve as a powerful foundation to start to believe in and live our absolute best health.

Where I've Been

I have a PhD in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California, Irvine, and an undergraduate degree from Duke University. As a research psychologist, I'm a longstanding member of the American Psychological Association (APA).

I'm certified as a Health and Wellness Coach (AFPA). I'm also a Certified NeuroFit Stress and Nervous System Coach, specializing in stress management and nervous system regulation through the lens of the mind and the body (otherwise known as polyvagal theory, somatics, and neuroscience).

I'm also a member of the Vagus Nerve Society. This collaborative, research-based organization unites physicians and other healthcare practitioners to explore the powerful role of the vagus nerve in health and healing. Since the vagus nerve plays a crucial role in nervous system health, I'm passionate about sharing this pioneering research and applying it to clinical settings—particularly for individuals living with Parkinson’s and other health challenges.

I also pursued additional study in environmental health under the guidance of Lara Adler, a leading voice in educating health practitioners about the impact of environmental toxins on human health. Through this program, I've deepened my understanding of how toxins contribute to many chronic health conditions including Parkinson's. My mission is to translate these research-based insights into simple, actionable strategies that help minimize toxic exposures and enhance nervous system resilience.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, including our three lovely grown and almost-grown kids and our spirited shepherd mix dog, who brings us endless joy!

Why Parkinson's Matters

I've seen firsthand the challenges that go along with Parkinson's. My grandfather lived through the early days when carbidopa-levodopa medication was just emerging as a treatment option. My uncle was diagnosed years later with early-onset Parkinson's, when medication was available but lifestyle factors weren't yet believed to be valuable for better health. My mother-in-law, diagnosed with Parkinsonism, lived valiantly to the age of 90 despite her health struggles. Another uncle walked the Swiss mountains for many years and still enjoys breathing in the fresh mountain air. And another loved one, diagnosed a few years ago, has greatly inspired me and my work.

I'm deeply grateful and inspired by those who've gone before us, shining their lights on what's possible for health and healing when living with Parkinson's.

Mission and Vision

🔹Educate🔹Inspire🔹Empower🔹

Our mission is to fully empower people living with Parkinson's with inspired action, small steps forward, and belief in your ability to lead your own health so you can live your absolute best life.

We envision a world where our community has access to innovative health ideas with an understanding that the nervous system matters for our physical and emotional well-being. Since Parkinson's is a movement disorder affecting the nervous system, supporting the mind and the body together is invaluable. And belief and mindset around health and possibilities for positive change also deeply matter.

We believe holistic strategies for nervous system health are foundational and supportive of other integrative health approaches you may already be doing, including medication, supplements, complementary therapies, and other ways of managing stress.
